Text & Commentary: My First Nine Lives

$14.95

My first book of poems. 1993. Published by Mandala Books, which also published MAN! magazine, a book of children's poems by David Kramer, and three books by Dan Jones. I was turning 40 and realized that Knopf or Norton were not going to publish my poems. The New Yorker and Georgia Review wanted nothing to do with me. But I thought that I was a poet or at least becoming one. So I threw down this marker! Includes 95 poems beginning with poems I wrote in 1968, as age 15. Includes prose commentary about who the young man writing these poems appears to be. Out of Print, but I still have a few copies I can part with.

“The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now.”
